Recently, Kerui Wei'an released the report "plastics industry towards a sustainable future", which pointed out that the prospect of bioplastics is promising, but the innovation environment is not yet mature. Bioplastic packaging industry is still in the early stage of development, there is no dominant company or entity. Up to 40% of the related patents are owned by institutions holding only one patent, and less than 1 / 10 of them hold more than 10 invention patents.
With the growing awareness of environmental protection, people are calling for a fundamental change in the current use and disposal of plastic products. As a possible solution, bioplastics are emerging, and biodegradable packaging materials are expected to help build a more sustainable world.
According to a recent survey, nearly 75% of global consumers support the prohibition of disposable plastic products, while 63% of participants are willing to change their shopping places in order to reduce the use of packaging. However, from the perspective of related invention patents, the bioplastics industry has not entered the rapid growth stage. According to DWPI data, during 2012-2017, the number of bioplastic packaging related patents used in the food, beverage and cosmetics industries grew almost the same as the total number of patents in the same period.
"Continued investment in bioplastics research and development, redesign of traditional plastics, people's more environmentally friendly use and disposal of plastic products will help reduce dependence on traditional plastics," said Jeff Roy, President of corewellian intellectual property group
